Weather, safety and shopping

Questions:
what is the weather like for summer in Serbia? how hot does it get?

Is it safe in Belgrade? if i was going up for 4 months how much money should i take up, consider accomadation i dont have to worry about, but i would like to shop while im up there.
Thank you.

Whoa, that’s a lotta questions! But ok, i think i can reply to all of them with certain accuracy.

Weather first – in short, it can be very hot and very dry in summer. And i’m talking about up-to-40-degrees-Celsius kind of hot. For refreshment, always carry some bottle of water with you and you’ll be fine. Or you can go to one of many pools, and there is always Ada ciganlija.
But last summer it rained a LOT. So check the long term weather report before you go just in case.

Safety in Belgrade has always been one thing that i couldn’t explain to myself properly, let alone strangers, but i’ll give it a shot. Safety is at very high level for a city this big, and at extremely high level for a capital of a country that has had such level of poverty in previous decade, and is still recovering. There are no parts of the city that should be avoided, at least none i can think of.
Some say that it’s one of the safest capitals in Europe, but i cannot really confirm this. I can claim, though, that it is safer than all other capitals in Europe that are bigger than Belgrade.
This of course doesn’t mean that you should walk around alone in dark alleys at four AM with your wallet hanging out testing my claims.

Shopping – well, since you got your accommodation covered, you got plenty options for shopping, and no matter your shopping habbits, you are bound to found something. Clothes go from 7 EUR pair of jeans at no-name stores to 700 EUR t-shirts in those stores that don’t have price tags displayed.
Food – from a 1 EUR burek breakfast to a 50 EUR dinner in a classy restaurant – though they can make you feel equally satisfied. If you are cooking at home, you can easily survive at 200/month.
Going out – beer is from 1 to 2 EUR, coffee espresso about 1 EUR, turkish coffee 0,5 EUR. Entrance to clubs is from zero to 5 EUR. If you are here during July, don’t miss the Exit festival.

Well, i hope i have been of some help, although your questions were very broad!
Cheers!
