UN follows Serbia’s example
Smoking has been banned in UN headquarters in New York after what has been described as “a tough debate”, the news agencies report.
Just as the battle seemed lost for the group supporting the ban, an unnamed member brought to the light a fact that Serbian assembly implemented the ban two weeks ago. According to sources, this new information made the representatives opposing the ban change their minds, with one of them saying “if the Serbs can do it, so can we.”
Inspiration found at an unlikely place turned the situation around and the member states voted in favor of the ban.

Wow, I didn’t hear about the Serbian parliament banning smoking inside the building – who would have thought it!?
I’m a smoker myself but I am all for bans (within reason) so people who don’t smoke aren’t forced to inhale my fumes – and anything which makes me smoke less (a consequence of 60 dinar packets of fags) is good.
