Persona non grata
This post comes a bit late, on purpose. You have probably all heard that S.M. died alone in his cell in Hague. Serbia was in all world news agencies’ headlines again, not so much of a good news, as usual. And you probably know all the tiny details by now. So i didn’t want to bother you with that once again. Plus, my intention was to report only the important news, and somehow i didn’t see this one as such.
But here come the interesting bits, and it will unfold in the next couple of days.
Nobody knows where to put his corpse. Hague doesn’t want him, Russia remains quiet, his hometown Pozarevac dont want him, and the village his ancestors come from, in Montenegro, lays under thick layers of snow, so they also said “Sorry, no can do – come back next year.”
But there is one more place remaining – you guessed it right, it’s right in the name of the name of this website – Belgrade.
This also comes as some sort of blackmail, because the socialist party of Serbia (SPS) did just that – they said that they will leave the parliament (and directly knock down the goverment) so the other parties unwillingly agreed.
There’s just one thing – nobody asked the citizens of Belgrade about their opinion. And what do you think the great majority (including yours truly) says about this? You got it – it’s in the headline of this post.
So what’s so interesting about all this? Well, the funeral is due very soon – SPS will try to get S.M. supporters to come to Belgrade from all over Serbia in busses. Lots of people from Belgrade will probably turn up too – but to show that they disagree with this decision -at some kind of a anti-funeral. What will this bring?
Stay tuned.
