Nick Slaughter’s documentary trailer

Here is the first glimpse of the scenes from the announced documentary about Serbia in the nineties. I mentioned this obscure documentary earlier when Rob Stewart, the director, visited Serbia couple of weeks ago. Rob played the Nick Slaughter character from the TV show Tropical Heat that became popular only in the Balkans – and nobody is sure exactly why.

“He is 47 years old. He lives with his parents and he is unemployed”, then treated like a real big celebrity in a godforsaken country. If they stuck to that, it would have been a great film. But mixing crazy fan stuff with hardcore politics – it just misses the point. The usage of Nick Slaughter during student protest in 96 is no more significant than the usage of Brazilian flag (anyone remember that?).

Or the Ferrari flag! Jelena, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with that comment.

This is kind of sad and pathetic.

I like how they try to pretend that Tropical Heat was shown for any reason other than it was probably the only show Serbian TV stations could afford to buy at the time.
