Guca festival 2009 – one trumpet to rule them all
Good news is that the entry to Brass bands trumpet festival contest in Guca 2009 will be exactly zero dinars. And that it lasts for five days and nights, starting 5th of August.
Now for the weird news – all types of music other than trumpet/brass bands are strictly forbidden. A special music police will be controlling the area in search of those trying to play some Bach on a smuggled piano or relaxing while playing their foldable sitar and ban them from the festival area. Unconfirmed information states that those caught playing the violin are to be shot and their violins used as firewood for roast and grill.
That’s logical, I hear you say, on a trumpet festival only trumpets should be allowed. If you think this is logical, than you haven’t been to Guca yet. It is not necessary to ban other instruments, because it’s impossible to hear anything else while attending Guca anyway – all you hear is trumpet, day and night. After one day, you would kill to hear another instrument – any other instrument.
Making other music genres and instruments officially illegal though, may seem as a nice touch by the organizers, but on the other hand, now it’s practically a rule that begs to be broken.
