Divac endorses Obama

Vlade Divac said today that he endorses Barack Obama in a statement to a daily newspaper Blic. This would not be such an interesting news, but it is because he is the first close-to-government person to endorse either of the candidates. No one else from the government or close to government has given any statements whatsoever about the US election, probably because nobody there sees any difference between Obama and Mccain when it comes to their stands on Serbia and Kosovo issue. Which is true, I don’t think the situation with Kosovo is going to change with either candidate.

But what about leaning towards one of the candidates when it comes to issues other than Kosovo? Majority of the Serbs are backing Obama, similar to most other countries in the world, but the politicians are playing it safe – they will probably say something after the winner is known.

I think Vlade Divac should stick to humanitarian work. The only politician running for election who is sympathetic to the injustice heaped upon the Serbs is Ron Paul. Serbs and American Serbs are never too smart politically, it seems. They have a dumb herd mentality instead of independence of thought. They put too much trust in empty promises and things that sound good instead of studying the actions and the platform of the candidates and those whom they surround themselves with.
