By way of introduction

by Viktor on May 15, 2006

Thanks to Viktor for bestowing the honour of being an official member of the Belgrade blog team. It might be tricky on my part in keeping this focussed primarily on tourist style issues because there are so many interesting things going on in Belgrades rich cultrual life. And many of those things are not aimed at tourists at all.

In fact there despite the valliant efforts of those like Viktor, publications such as Yellow Cab (Belgrades equivalent of Londons Time Out) and others, there are still many things a visitor can do or take part in whilst staying in Belgrade that many locals know nothing about.

I hope to describe some of these unorthodox activities (no pun intended) and perhaps give a flavour as to what one can expect when staying here longer than a few days.

Aside from this, expect me to also collapse into the occasional rant (aka analysis :) ) concerning issues that affect Serbia as a whole. But this focus will primarily be from a Belgrade perspective.

But if there is a message it is this. Come to Belgrade, you will not be disapointed. There are some downsides of course and I will write something about those too. This town, country and its people deserve better than to only being remembered for the tragic 1990’s period.
