As I am writing, Togo is leading 1-0 against South Korea …. I am obviously writing about the Football World Cup 2006 that is held in Germany…. Sorry for the interruption…. Korea just scored a goal…. That’s 1-1 and my business is getting better… I put all my money on a win from Korea over Togo… sorry but there are really important things going on in the world right now!

I mean: do I know something about distant Korea and Togo ? Not much… Korea is a country like Srbija; it has been cut into two countries; one nice and one bad… maybe they should have done the same with Srbija… North Srbija and South Srbija… it would not have been that bad if Serbija was not in the heart of Europe… very useful since you transfer the bad one in one part and the good one in the other… I love dichotomy. Togo? I barely manage to spo®t it on the map of the world… I will say: Africa, somewhere in that unknown continent!
———————2-1 for Korea——————————-

To get back to my point; I might not know much about Korea and Togo but I found myself following a stupid football game in front of my TV… I can make a slight parallel on BG anons article about museum night… you don’t need to know much about culture but you may need to take part to the event… it’s the same with world cup… it’s a wonderful event in term of social adventure… I remember my many world cups in Geneva where party was going on every night in function of the team playing. It was due to the fact that Geneva is a city where you can find around 130 nationalities… so you could always find some people to hang out with, invoking the great pretext of the world cup. The result was something like this: at 3 p.m I was hanging around with some Portuguese; they were wining the game and we started drinking SuperBock pivo (Portuguese brand) and eating Bacalao (disgusting dry salted fish)… in front of us were some sad Swedish fans (of course they were loosing the game) and my heart didn’t survive that half naked (it’s always hot for the WC) Swedish girl asking me for some warmth and one bottle of SuperBock.

Around 5 p.m. I took my SuperBock and my Swedish girl (I left the Bacalao) and went to see Italy vs USA… I don’t need to mention that I left that game with my Swedish girl, two sad American porn stars, my stomach full of spaghetti and a bottle of Chianti in my hand…
Finally I found myself pretty drunk around 9 p.m. watching Brazil vs England. The sound of the giant screen was replaced by a live samba band, lepo dupe girls dancing and playing like they were on drugs (which was certainly true)… I lost one of the porn stars to an angry Brazilian transsexual and England lost. This put me in a tricky situation; thanks to Brazils victory I avoided English food but I found myself in front of two English … girls… which is more or less as toxic as the English food… What to do? With all the caipirinhia I had in my blood I still don’t understand how I escaped this deadly trap!!! But my brain found it’s last neurons and I turned to my Serbian friend: “Let me prove you that we can be as good hosts as you are in your country… here is my present for you” and I disappeared in the crowd with my Swedish fan, half of the porn stars left and some really good memories in my mind…

Maybe, like for the museum, it’s too early to have some good fun during the WC in Belgrade, maybe Belgrade has enough opportunities to have fun and exchange cultural differences but I hope World Cup atmosphere will once spread all around the city and not only in Kladonica (gambling institutions). The World Cup is far more than simply football and Panini slicice; it’s a perfect occasion to meet cultural differences, drink the world, eat the world and also f*** it if you are not as drunk as I was.

A very good fact about World Cup side effect: more than 3bn lost from labor forces in the European Community… that means every 4 years the human being is intelligent enough to fight the system… a pitty it’s for football sake… but it’s more than nothing.

Enjoy this great moment and to quote my friend Jack Blues: “You, me, they, everybody….” … I am off to see France vs Switzerland in town…
