Update – report and pics from protest:

Very good atmosphere on this protest. More than 5000 people as i could tell, both young and old, beautifull day, and colorfull flags were the highlights.

Speakers held very motivational speeches, against the present goverment, and in favour of joining European traditions.

people gathering before the protest – note the colorfull “PACE” flags, in contrast to dull Radical meeting flags.

Leader of Liberal Democratic Party, Cedomir Jovanovic, called upon Serbias president, Boris Tadic, to join all democratic forces in the country.

After the last speech, protesters walked past the parliament expressing their dissatisfaction and demanding that the new elections be held.

I like that things like this happen in Belgrade, though I don’t like them. Better than the Radical rallies in any case…

thanks for praising the PACE flags. I was one of the people waving them.

Seesaw,
indeed the atmosphere was truly surprisingly great!

Estavisti,
i think that it goes without saying – it CANT get any worse than radical meeting no matter how hard they tried :)

Personally i see this meeting more as an anti-goverment rally than pro-”new opposition”. Not that i have anything against LDP, GSS and SDU, but the spirit was more leaning to that “we’re pissed because the goverment really stinks” side i think.

Cheers!
