Medvedev in Serbia: Trumpets Galore
After the second most powerful American, it’s time for Belgrade to host the second most powerful Russian – Mr Dmitry Medvedev. He already was in Serbia once last year, but this time there’s a lot more fuss about his visit, presumably because we need to suck up to the East at least as much as we did to the West. So here’s what the local government masterminds have prepared for mr Medvedev.
One hundred trumpeters to play an old Serbian song, and maybe some Russian song as a surprise.
A video spot where a young and hot Yugoslavian chick falls in love with a Russian soldier.
One hundred trained dancing-bears performing Kazachock on the Republic square.
A dinner with Boris Tadic.
A meeting with heads of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Several thousand police officers blocking the traffic throughout the city the entire day of the visit, 20th October (the American guy was also able to enjoy this performance).
Ok, so I made up one of these claims, but which one? To make it easier for you, here’s the video of the young Yugoslav partisan babe making out with the Soviet hunk:
Belgrade remembers: 65 years of freedom
UPDATE: And the one hundred trumpeters strong brass band:
UPDATE 2: Here are some pictures of how the city streets looked like during the visit. To be honest, I would love to see some photos from the Biden’s visit and compare, but I think Medvedev caused a bigger fuss.

I reckon that the commercial would be much better if the Partisan guy would make out with the Soviet fellow

Actually, there’s no a clue that guy is member of Red Army. Anyway, ad is very lame, and song (“Night is Dark”) is too suggestive: Belgrade is liberated by communists and Red Army, and dark night fall over….

Isn’t that the Red Army flag at the beginning of the ad?

Let a hundred brass players bloom. Nice stuff, apart from the oompah, oompah, but there’s something missing – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPcYjiLQgQU
