Here comes new counter-culture, but also anti-goverment action. Choir Horkeshkart is going to perform their latest song as a form of protest in front of every institution that is not functioning as it should in the country. Schedule of performance: – Belgrade University Rectorate building (15h) – Serbian academy of Sciences and Arts Building (15.15h) – Serbian Orthodox Church patriarchate building (15.40h) – Supreme court building (16.35h) (not approved by the police, so maybe not) – Goverment of Serbia building (16.45h)
It’s all happening on June 9th, so show up if you want to sing – you don’t even need to audition to join the choir.
Here are the words of the song in English, for other languages visit their site.
REWIND
Rewind to dark
they signal to us
Rewind to flaws
for ancient cause
Rewind to mud
dip calloused hand
Rewind to battle
for your motherland
Rewind to calamity
both village and city
both old and young
let’s all rewind

In other news: Serb burns car rather than pay fine. I must say i understand how he feels, i was tempted to to this myself couple of times when i got towed.

Im sorry Viktor but I kindly disagree.
You know how Londons traffic problems were solved – by taxing car owners to death. I dont quite advocate the same in Belgrade but no way are Parking Servis doing a good job. Look at Bulevar or street where Novosti building is. There is always traffic parked in those places.
The result seen in London is less pollution, more places to park etc.
Yeah it stinks to think that Parking Servis wont be investing the money wisely but paying its directiors and affiliated political parties more but still Belgrade has serious traffic and pollution problems that have to be confronted.
Actualy i agree very much with what you said, my point was merely that sometimes they do make mistakes when towing the car (which he claimed also) and it is impossible to argue or to do anything about it, even when you have the proof (i tried so i know). That’s why i said that i understand how he feels.
Otherwise you wouldnt find a happier man than me if they someday cleaned, for example, Bulevar Revolucije and Vojvode Stepe street of cars parked in the middle of the road.
Btw, i just read that he will still have to pay the fine – he fought the law and unfortunately for him, it was the Clash version ending of the song, not the Dead Kennedys one
