Update on Gumball3000 (Gambol 3000 in Serbian)
Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn: “Belgrade is hell on earth”
Well, here i was, going to the city hall at about 12pm, thinking that a handfull of enthusiasts was going to be present, waiting to see expensive cars and their eccentric owners, but i was in for a big surprise. The crowd of several thousand people was already there clogging up the driveway in front of the city hall, and taking pictures with their cameras, mobile phones, kids discussing the horse power and acceleration of every car present, older folks wandering what’s going on.
That’s when it hit me – today nobody had anything better to do than come to the city and check out cars – because everybody had a day off (no work and no school, don’t ask me why, something with the 1st of May celebration.)

I managed to take a couple of photos despite the huge number of people pushing around trying to take a better shot and ferraris trying to somehow break through the crowd without running over people. Click the thumbnails to get the big picture.

I’m no expert in cars but i know these are expensive, while some of them were extremely expensive.
I was afraid that i won’t be able to get any better photos than an average passer by, when suddenly i got the call from my brother who was my “pass” to the inside of the city hall, where the gumballers hang out. It turned out that this was their last stop before going to Bangkok, where another 1000 miles was waiting for them.

Gumballers used the opportunity to chill out a bit, refresh and eat something after the long road behind them.
Guys from the picture were from USA, driving in a tuned up Porsche 911. They said the trip through Serbia went ok, although they’ve seen better roads too. SUV drivers weren’t complaining, though. One thing they agreed on was that the local police were very cool because they let them pass without stopping even though they were doing 200 mph, unlike the German, Austrian and Hungarian police forces who gave them much trouble (and souvenire speeding tickets).
I didn’t manage to see any of the celebrities, just got a glimpse of Bam Margera fooling around with the megaphone shouting something at the police
Seriously, there was so many people there, one moment i thought to myself – couplde of more thousands and we could bring down the goverment
But, alas, nobody was in the mood to burn buildings, they just wanted to catch a glimpse of some jet-set.

Tight schedule didn’t allow them to stay long in Belgrade, after all, those miles aren’t gonna drive them selves.

Old news, April 30th:
On tuesday, May 2nd, Gumball 3000 will pass through Serbia.
I kinda wish to see them trying to achieve high speeds on Belgrades and Serbias motorways… almost feel sorry for all those fancy cars and superstars running into one hole after another, hehehe.
If you want to get a glimpse of this event, make sure to be in front of the City hall between 11AM – 1PM.

I have just enjoyed that this weekend again.
it was a great event, thousands of people on the streets of Serbia`s capitol…it was awsome!!!!!!!!!
Novala,
they weren’t complaining so much about the roads, and that surprised me a bit. They were complaining about the slow drivers who didn’t want to get out of their ways on the highway… i guess they didn’t see them coming so fast
Cheers!
Btw. – thanx for all your efforts here. I got some valuable information for my trip to Belgrade last weekend.
