I’ve been to the Belgrade car show today as you could tell from the pictures (click for full size). Sajam automobila Beograd looks better and better each year, with more and more premieres coming straight from Geneva car show. It’s funny how all the fancy cars found their buyers right after the opening, so did this 0.6$mil Maybach and this 0.5$mil SLR on picture below also i think. I mean, it wouldn’t be funny in a country where the average salary is above ours, but i guess people buying these cars are actually part of the equation when it comes to calculating the average salary, without them it would be even lower? Complicated stuff.
Another funny thing – all cars had pretty girls advertising them standing beside the cars, most of them dressed pretty humble (humble amount of material that went into their clothes i mean) – it looks like the car manufacturers are trying to appeal to two groups of drivers – straight men and gay women. I’m pretty sure that we have some other groups of people buying, owning and driving cars in Belgrade.

But, of course, it’s not only in Serbia you get this kind of advertising at car shows, it’s everywhere. Not that i have anything against – in fact, these girls not only look great but they know everything about cars – i just think it’s a strange phenomenon. How do they plan to attract straight women and gay men to buy the cars then? “Surely you don’t believe that scantily dressed girls actually make someone buy a car?” you would say. Well, if the girls don’t have any effect on the buyers, then why are they standing there in the first place? Complicated stuff, as i said.
Two things that you might find interesting and that you won’t see on other car shows in the world: new Yugo car (if you don’t know what a Yugo car is, check some commercials at Carniola) and New Zastava (check it out, we got a license from Fiat and we are not afraid to use it).
