It says ” bicycle tours” in plural in the title, but I know only of one so far, and that’s why I’m writing this post in the first place. I hope there will be more, though, hence the title.
It’s kind of predictable that the first person to believe a bike tour in Belgrade will be a good business is a Dutch fellow. It’s also reassuring, because nobody can ride bikes better than the Dutch. Except for the Chinese maybe… But I digress. The point is, go to the iBikeBelgrade website, where you can see where the tour will take you, and what’s the price. And spread the word.

Note: I don’t normally do advertising on Belgraded, (very expensive, so nobody can afford it) and I don’t even know this guy. The reason for promoting his bike tour is that I hope it will help diversify tourist offer in Belgrade and that we will all benefit from it in the end, one way or the other. The fact that this is the first bicycle tour ever tells you about the state current Belgrade tourism is in.

Not so reassuring when you compare the geography of Holland with that of Belgrade. Note the pointed absence of hills.
Hi Belgraded,
How can I thank you for this? Maybe by re-assuring you’re not really advertising a commercial company. I gave up my well-paid, good job in Holland, left my friends, family and a happy and comfortable life behind, just to start from zero in Belgrade. iBikeBelgrade is one of the 500 ideas that have been going ‘round in my head and heart every time I visit Belgrade (about 5x per year for the past years). My aim is to be a social-entrepreneur and help as many people as possible. I choose to start with the bike-tours, because it is fun, green and it will provide for nice jobs for young Belgradians.
And I choose to make a company in order to be able to be totally independent from donors or sponsors or anything. After I pay my rent and food and occasional rakia, I want to use the rest to support bicycling, culture and green projects in Belgrade with iBikeBelgrade. So, many crazy ideas are to follow, and I hope many people will take a tour this summer. On the one hand because then I can finance other projects, on the other hand because I am convinced the best way to get a full impression of all of Belgrade is by bike.
So, do not hesitate to ‘advertise’ iBikeBelgrade. I will do the same for your great site (which I’ve been following for a long time!)
Well, now I still don’t have the feeling I thanked you enough. So, an open invitation to come on the tour stands, as well as sharing a few glasses of rakia anytime, anywhere. As long as it is in Belgrade!
Greetings from the Dutch guy!
Ralph
Oh, by the way: It’s great you used the plural ‘tours’ . As you can see on my website, I also use it (‘Coolest tours in Belgrade’). The idea is to have other kind of bike-tours soon, such as a ‘Picnic in the park tour’ and the ‘Sunset-tour’. Both are aimed to bring the people on the tour closer together by having a picnic, or some drinks watching the sun set.
Coming to a city near you soon!
Hey Ralph, nice to have your comments on Belgraded. No need to be thanking me, thank you for starting a bike tour, Belgrade really needs one I believe.
Also, I really like your idea for the Yugotour, good luck with that!
We’ll probably meet somewhere, but I don’t think I’ll drink rakija before riding a bicycle in Belgrade
