Zapata – mexican food, address: Vojvode Bogdana 13

Iguana – cool place with super cool food, address: Bozidara Adzije 30 – also check out Desperate Serwifes review of Iguana restaurant.

ABC - slow Serbian food concept, a bit expensive at the end, but worth it. Don’t get fooled by the lousy exterior of the restaurant. Address: Ohridska Bb

Monument – probably best salads in the city. Address: Admirala Geprata 14

Lovacki Dom on Njegoseva street, recommended by Eric from East Ethnia blog. They have the standard local menu which is okay, but the specials can be just fantastic.

Indian palace – Daniel of The Native Speaker blog says that this Indian joint is as good as or even better than most in the US.

Average price of a dinner for two in a good mid-range restaurant would be around 12-15 EUR.

All the cabbies know where all of these restaurants are, so it’s safest and quickest way to grab a cab if you dont fancy walking.

I’ll add a mention of Lovacki dom (on Njegoseva, if memory serves). They have the standard local menu which is okay, but the specials can be just fantastic. I learned this the hard way when I ordered a becka snicla (which was fine, but just a becka snicla) and found myself reaching across to copnem bits of my friend’s absolutely transcndent kapama. It’s not an expensive place.

Bar-Restaurant Zodiac, a fairly new place in town, frequently visited by the expats but also lot of (young) Serbs.
Food is really excellent and somehow different then all other restaurants. (international) The Smoked Salmon is perfect as a starter. Beef is perfectly done as to your wish, (rare, medium, well-done) The bar is more then 14 meters long and has a great choice on cocktails but also lots of international wines (Australian, Chilean, South-African etc)
And every Friday and Saturday there is live music. (This weekend live band on Friday and Saturday an American DJ playing Reggae and dubs all other nice music)
And every thursday there is a special cocktail evening. For every sign of the Zodiac a special cocktail made by a very good barman!! You must have seen this, it is really something special and the atmosphere is really like you are at home, Very cosy!
