Beauty will save the world

Jonathan mentioned it at the end of his post here but it was only later I found out what really happened with the suicider-wannabe. Much to his luck, a model Katarina Vuckovic accidentaly left her bus at a wrong station so she had to walk back to the right one. At her way back on foot, she saw this guy at the Branko’s bridge wanting to end his own life.

But who could resist the offer to have a cup of coffee with a good looking girl like that? So that’s exactly what Katarina offered to the guy if he gives up on his intent to jump from Branko’s Bridge, favorite suicide spot in Belgrade.

Following this logic, isn’t it obvious that instead of all the highly skilled and proffesionally trained negotiators who deal with such cases all over the world, we should get pretty girls and guys to do the talking wih those who lost all faith in life in the future? I bet the suicide rate would go down.

    And she’s milking the whole situation to the max: her bikini pictures are all over the media. How lame. Oh, and by the way, if somebody is depressed to the point of wanting to jump off a bridge, I don’t think the fact that some girl there is “pretty” is gonna change their mind.

    @Yeah,right

    First of all, I hate your tone!

    It is sickeningly blasé and dismissive!

    You have no way of knowing this girl’s motivation, or anything else about her for that matter, yet none of that is stopping you from basically accusing her of being an attention-hungry media whore. In fact, the two curt sentences you felt compelled to share with the cyberspace on this issue tell me pretty much all I need to know about you and make me further depressed about the general state of mind in Belgrade.

    I’m pretty much sure that 95% of the passers-by in Belgrade wouldn’t even give this guy a second look, let alone take some time out of their selfish lives to actually try to talk him out of it. The fact that this girl, who happens to be extremely good looking, actually bothered to do so has both shocked and amazed me (pleasantly of course).

    When it comes to warmth, compassion, and human interaction Belgrade is an appallingly merciless place. Good to know that at least not everybody in this meat grinder is a ruthless SOB.

    Sounds like Yeah, right needs a Ms Vuckovic to save him.

    Has there been any reporting in Belgrade on the Srebrenica civil actions going on in The Hague – the Nuhanovic and Mustafic tort actions against the Dutch State and the Mothers of Srebrenica’s case against the Dutch State and the United Nations?
