UPDATE: Amy Winehouse died one month after I wrote this article. I didn’t want my prediction to be this true, but I was definitely sure after the concert that something is very wrong. You can read the article below:
The end of Amy Winehouse’s career happened on Saturday, 18th of Juny in Belgrade, and I was there to see it. I wish I wasn’t, as much as I can brag about it to my future grandchildren now.
I was told after concert, mostly by people who weren’t at the concert, that something like this was expected, but I have to disagree. I saw enough of her previous concert performances-blunders on Youtube so that I can claim with certain authority that this one can’t be compared to anything seen before.
People also say that being fucked-up is something that you should expect from a great artist, and I do agree that most of really great art is made with help of illegal substances. What sets this concert apart from all other drug-and-booze-enhanced performances in history of music is that all of the other wasted artists at least invested some tiny effort to make the concert work. This is where all comparisons to Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison fail: it is sadly obvious Amy doesn’t want to be in this music business anymore. Or at least the concert business.
This is why this following video clip, recorded by Iva from the front row, is going to be one of the most-viewed Amy Winehouse video clips on Youtube of all times. (NOTE: Video was removed by Youtube for a made-up reason. See UPDATE at the top of this article.)
It is the video of Amy giving up.
I hope I am wrong.
